Bytheendoftheyear,onlinecasefiling,feepayment,anddocumentdeliveryshouldbeavailableatallcourtsnationwide,LiuGuixiang,afull-timememberofthejudicialcommitteeoftheSupremePeople鈥檚Court,saidatarecentconferenceheldinShijiazhuang,NorthChina鈥檚HebeiProvince.
Bythesametime,atleast10percentoffirstinstancecivilcasesshouldberegisteredonline,Liusaid,addingthatonlineevidenceexchangesandhearingsshouldbefullypracticedatmorethan10provincial-ormunicipal-levelcourts.
Inthepastfiveyears,Chinahaspushedforwardcourtservicereformbasedoninformationtechnology.Morethan86percentofcourts,3,525intotalnationwide,haveestablishedsmartservicecenterswhicharecurrentlyopentothepublic,while76percenthavesetuponlineportalsfortheservice.
Allparties,includingdefendantsandlawyers,canhandletheiraffairsthroughtheInternet.Forsome,theydon鈥檛evenneedtophysicallyshowuptothecourthouse.Instead,theycan鈥渁ppearincourt鈥漷hroughcomputersandmobiledevices.
InAugustlastyear,theworld鈥檚firstInternet-basedcourtwasinauguratedinHangzhou,ZhejiangProvince.Theaverageonlinehearinglastedabout25minutes.

ResearchinvolvinghalfamillionpregnantwomenacrossChinaisexpectedtogreatlyimprovecontrolandpreventionofrisksrelatedtobirthdefects,whicharelikelytoincreasewiththeadoptionoftheuniversalsecond-childpolicyandthegrowingnumberofwomenconceivingatlaterages.
HeadedbyBeijingObstetricsandGynecologyHospitalandwiththeparticipationof33medicalinstitutionsin17provincesandmunicipalities,thisresearchanalyzesriskfactorsformajorbirthdefects,usesbigdatatechnologytosingleoutfactorsthatmaycausebirthdefects,andwillestablishariskevaluationsystem.
